I decided to do this HA because...it's me.

Christmas for me is about waking up at the crack of dawn, looking in the mirror to find out my hair has obviously been having a party while i've been sleeping (but that's every day!), having chocolate and cookies for breakfast, and trying to keep my cats away from the presents (which always get put in plastic carrier bags so we don't wake up to shreds of wrapping paper everywhere) and always wishing for snow but normally getting rain. But it still being the most awesomest day of the year!!!!!*

*does not include birthdays

A Letter To Santa Dear Santa, You've made your list and checked it twice, So you already know I've been extra nice. And if your bag is not too small, I would love you to bring me a life sized doll. Give her big blue eyes that twinkle bright, A red bow in her hair that's not too tight. A little red dress with matching shoes, I promise I'll do my best not to lose. And Santa when you finally arrive at my house, Please, pretty please be as quiet as a mouse. The cat will surely be curled under the tree, You must try not to disturb her, just let her be. I'll leave milk and cookies next to dad's chair, But don't wake Miss Kitty unless you intend to share!

Sincerely, Wendy Sue

This is more my interpretation of the preparations for Christmas, rather than the day itself ;) It always results in me getting in a mess with sticky tape while I try to wrap gifts, and the tangled tree lights are a particular highlight .... for those watching me trying to untangle them, at least! ;)

Escape the Winter on a Dream Getaway It might be a little windswept, but it's so much warmer than a snowy Christmas at home :)

I used a generator for both, as I didn't have quite the right items in my wardrobe to get the look I was after

I love this background so much. Christmas is my favorite holiday ever. It's the whole spirit of the season. The songs, the lights and the meaning all make me smile. I love giving gifts, and I sing Christmas songs all year round... drives my daughter nuts, lol. I am not having the time I need while visiting family to make the HAs I truly want to so I am hurrying to make them:

RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.

Here's my entry for the first holiday season contest I hope this entry will count. I deciced to make a cute little angel tree topper, because I love to decorate the christmas tree during the holiday season. We always pick a date to set up the tree and we all go and decorate the tree together, we go in turns and everyone can pick something to put in the tree. Our tree topper is always the first to be picked and placed on our tree

HAPPY LUMINAIRE MONTH!

Here are my entries:

I made this entry in tribute of my first Christmas in the snow. I was visiting my relatives in Canada and made my first ever Christmas tree! Well I made two, one which was... a bit lumpy to say the least but my second one looked more snowman-like. Except it fell apart within a few days... Christmas has always been a holiday which I have loved because of the whole feel of it. Presents, family and fun!

Hehehe well since I don't actually live in a country where it snows during winter, this background's a little more suited to where I come from. It would be amazing to have fun watching the sunset and wearing a rainbow-y shirt. Because I love rainbow colours. And with my trusty handbag with all the essentials. XD

Decorating and wrapping presents has always been my favorite part of the holidays. Every year family and friends draft me to help them set up trees, put up lights and wrap presents. 18 years ago as I was wrapping gifts for my niece and nephew, my husband handed me a half wrapped largish box. As i reached for some ribbon, the lid raised up and a pair of bright puppy eyes sparkled up at me out of the box. Chewie passed away last summer, but that box of love is a Christmas memory that still makes me smile.

I love Christmas in the Sierra Nevada. Skiing, sleigh rides, toboggans and sleds careening down icy slopes. Snow forts with miniature trebuchets slinging snow balls at each other, Snow and ice sculpture contests followed by a hot cup of cocoa in front of a fire.... But sometimes I dream of a place that the flower scented winds are warm, and fleece mittens and down jackets are a distant memory....

Contest One: In my mind, a lot of the magic of Christmas is for the children and those who are blessed enough to share the holiday with them. Having two younger siblings (who are now grown) and now a young nephew, (the love of my life) I've been able to hang on to that magic a bit longer by seeing Christmas through their eyes. So I tried to make an HA to show that Christmas is for the young and the young at heart.

Contest Two: I haven't spent many Christmases that weren't snowy and cold, the closest was one Christmas spent in southeast Texas. Other than that all of my Christmases have pretty much been white, and I've not given much thought to spending them otherwise. I do have family that lives in Hawaii though and have wondered what it would be like to spend Christmas next to the waves with the warm sea air carrying the scent of flowers around me. Contest One: My Christmas morning generally entails being woken up at the crack of dawn and dressing to the T. It entails driving miles to whomever's house is hosting Christmas that year. It entails going through the ritual of hugging every single person who comes through the door. Waiting for hours to open anything out of common courtesy. It entails stuffing my face with food that I only see once a year. It entails playing with the dogs I have grown up with and the brothers that make fake snow fall out of pure self amusement. It entails taking so many pictures that you soon give up on the "nice" smiles. It entails praying and thanking God that every day is a blessing and how fortunate I am to have everything in it.

First contest: My family has a strict tradition to dress up for christmas dinner. After cooking together in the day, we'll have dinner - dressed to the nines- , and afterwards, there's opening presents and packets besides the christmas tree. We never manage to maintain the chic appearance for the whole evening, though... it always ends with sweaters or fluffy socks to the pretty dresses, and we also love to put on the wearable presents right away, or decorating each other with the ribbons that come off our gifts and similar fun stuff. I can't remember a christmas eve without some weird photos of us with lights around our heads or making funny faces with cookies sideways in our mouths. After opening the presents, we'll sit around the lighted tree, chatting and stuffing ourselves with cookies. We always have real candles on the tree and the second important christmas tradition in my family is to conclude the evening by not leaving the place until the last candle goes out, and to place bets which candle will be the last one. (I still owe my sister some chocolate from last year.) I'm typically one of the last to leave the tree, and I'm very likely to snag a good-night-treat on my way upstairs 'cause you know, it's christmas, and nothing can hinder me... It's a weirdly beautiful feeling to be alone in the calm room when it's dark inside and outside and your family is sleeping safe and sound upstairs and you know, this has been an absolutely wonderful and joyous day for everyone. So that's what you get. Me in my dress and socks, being the last one downstairs, on my way to my bed - with a cookie.

I remember spending Christmas at my grandparents. They had three dogs a Burmese mountain dog (the all black) named smokey and two pekinese (the little one) I was about 5 and there's a picture of the tree and a stuffed Dalmatian under it for me. I still remember that dog and how the woods looked behind their house. This is as close to that image as i can get.

Second contest: YOOO CARIBICSSSSSSS

old entry, wrong backdrop, but there's a little Doctor Who themed photostory for anyone interested :)

Second contest: Dream getaway will always be the TARDIS! I mean, that baby could get you anywhere. ANYWHERE. I couldn't resist to make a little story out of it, though! Cross-universe vacation time!

D.: Hold on, going to the beach... now! Opening the TARDIS door... WOAH DOCTOR THIS IS NOT THE BEACHES OF APALAPUCIA THAT YOU PROMISED ME D.: Yeah, well... that wasn't really supposed to happen... but you know it's half the fun of this anyway! D.: Oh come on. Don't look at me like that.

TARDIS whirring noises We're arriving! Beach beach beach beeeeach

DOCTOR ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS MY ONE MONSTER-FREE DAY BEEEEACH D.: And that was actually supposed to happen! Ta-dah! DOCTOR I SWEAR IF YOU COME NEAR I WILL MAKE YOU REGENERATE ... and that's pretty much the whole journey in a nutshell.

But in the end the door opened once again...

... and that day has been a most fond memory of mine ever since.

It is no surprise to many who know me that one of my favorite things about the Holidays is all the delicious home-cooked food. Every year I join nearly 100 of my family members (I have a VERY large family) in my Nana's small 3-bedroom home for a grand get together of family, friends and feasting. That being said, inevitably there are about 5 pictures of me standing in front of the food table every year so it only seemed fitting to recreate that here on Subeta. :)

I won't be entering the second contest, for obvious reasons :)

Here are my entries for this wonderful contest with such beautiful prizes! ;):

My fondest memories of Yule are the times spent at my Nana's house. She made everything so special just by being there. She was one of those people that could make anyone from ANY walk of life feel wanted, accepted and equal. When we went to her house, we always dressed comfy. When we got there, we just relaxed and had a great time. She had an "elf on the shelf" long before having an elf on the shelf was cool. (The little elf in my pic is the closest I could find to represent this). Every time I see one, I think of her. She is definitely the one who put magic into Yule for me.

A Yule time cruise you say? Why yes please! Miss snowball here will be the closest thing to snow that we will have this year! Sweet kitty got that name because she was born on a very snowy Yule morning. She's going to love this trip as much as I will!
